V1.3.0 is out! (3 new maps, next update news, and roadmap)

The new update is out! I made 3 new maps testing out new engine and map features I've been working on for a while. I also changed some visuals, but they aren't that noticeable. I also updated my color changer mod to support some of the new maps.

Changes:

  • New maps
    •    Neon: Walls change colors
    •    Four Colors: Bouncy walls and interesting visual effects
    •     Portals: Pretty self-explanatory
  • Changed visuals for obstacles and goals

Honestly really happy with the maps. Portals is my favorite one out of the 3 for sure. (Top) I didn't sketch it out I just made it as I went, and it turned out really well!

About next update (V1.4.0):

Power-ups are being added to the game!

There will be 5 different types of power-ups and one that chooses a random power-up. I don't want to give away anything, but you can probably tell from the art anyway about what they are going to do.

New roadmap (as of June 2024):

  • V1.4.0 - "Power-ups"
    • Will add power-ups to the game which should make the game a lot more fun!
  • V1.5.0 - "General Update"
    • Mostly polishing up V1. I'm adding mobile controls for Line Battle, and an option the save loaded mods so you don't have to keep re adding them. There might be more, but this is what I have planned for now. It's small compared to V1.4 but it'll round off V1 nicely.
  • V2.0.0 - "Tank War"
    • This will finally add an updated version of the old Tank War minigame. I want to improve this mode by revamping the upgrades and tank visuals. This update will only have 1 map which will be the original map. What I liked about the original is the tank tread path you'd leave so that's definitely coming back. I am changing the controls the add full control over your tank. Power-ups will be supported in a later update as well as different sub modes. (Like point collector) I also want to rework spawning. I want to make it when you die you respawn, but it doesn't reset the game. To do this I'll probably either add safe zones, random spawns, or static spawns and add a shield for a certain amount of time. Tanks will also have health and once it reaches 0, you'll explode like you did in the original. (You become a skull then respawn)
  • V2.1.0 - "Point Collector mode for Tank War a.k.a. Capture the Flag"
    • Flags will spawn randomly on the map and your goal is to defend your position for a certain amount of time while trying not to die. This update will also add obstacle (a.k.a. mines)
  • V2.2.0 - "New maps for Tank War"
    • Nothing really to say. I haven't come up with too much for this.
  • V2.3.0 - "King of The Hill mode for Tank War"
    • Old maps will spawn the "hill" randomly in predefined areas while new maps will have static spawns. Whoever can stay in the hill zone will earn points. When the hill zone is contested no one will earn points.
  • V2.4.0 - "Power-ups for Tank War"
    • Adds power-ups to spice up the gameplay a little.
  • V2.5.0 - "2v2 modes for Tank War and Line Battle"
    • Work together with a friend to beat your enemies. Will only be available with 4 players.
  • V3.0.0 - "Ball Bouncers"
    • The final mode planned for this game. I don't want to talk much about this since it's a long way from happening, but it'll come out bare bones and then slowly get more content like the rest of the modes.

This is all I have planned besides side projects that I don't consider to be a part of the regular update cycle like the AI mod or a map editor which I still want to do in the future. I'd love to make a multiplayer mod as well but I'm not messing with that until the game is finished because I don't want to be stuck developing this forever lol.
